Purpose


The VTCT Entry Level Award in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (Entry 3) is to support you to develop your skills and knowledge so you can progress to preparing for work qualifications.

This qualification is suitable for learners from 14 years old and will develop your knowledge and understanding of the main outlets in the hospitality industry and the career opportunities available.

The qualification has 2 mandatory units that will develop your knowledge and understanding of the hospitality and catering industry, how to communicate with customers and the importance of good personal presentation. The optional units that make up this qualification will allow you to tailor your learning to your personal interests and preferences. Optional units range from basic cooking, serving food and drink or guest services in the hospitality industry. Learners who complete this qualification may be able to seek employment in a variety of settings including:

- Supervised assistant / waiting staff in a coffee shop, work canteen, motorway service station or hospital canteen
- Supervised assistant cook in a coffee shop, cafe, work canteen, motorway service station, care home or hospital kitchen
