The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-Up Studies is a vocational qualification that will prepare you for further study at level 3 within the hair and media make-up sector. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous achievement of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy or hairdressing and/or a successful skills test and interview.
The units within this qualification include all the elements required to provide you with a sound basis for further study. The three mandatory units cover the art of photographic make-up, health and safety and how to create an image based on a theme.
You will also have the opportunity to further develop your understanding and skills by selecting optional units, which include; dressing hair, skin tanning, body art, themed face painting, plaiting and twisting hair, colour hair using temporary colour, shaping and colouring eyebrows, apply make-up, instruction on make-up application, provide nail art, provide eyelash perming, shampoo and condition the hair and scalp, along with client consultation services.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the skin, health and safety, hair and media make-up products and equipment. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of make-up products, using different techniques. You will also develop a range of basic technical hairdressing skills, which will prepare you for the next level of learning in this sector.
What could this qualification lead to?
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare you to develop your skills further enabling you to undertake qualifications at Level 3, including:
- VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-Up
