Who is this qualification for?
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Personal Development for the Hairdressing and Barbering Sector will develop your professional approach to working in the hair sector. It will also develop your technical skills alongside your professional approach to work. This qualification has been designed if you have a limited set of hairdressing or barbering skills, that you want to develop further. It has been approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.
Why is this qualification most suitable?
This qualification is suitable if you have already studied a hairdressing qualification pre-16. The structure of this qualification allows you to develop the skills that you were too young to learn such as cutting and colouring techniques, alongside developing a professional approach to work.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16-19 age group, and will either develop or build on your existing skills, knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and barbering. You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
There are nine mandatory employability units in this qualification for you to study including; valuing equality and diversity, improving own performance, career development and employability, investigating a vocational area, work based experience, promoting yourself and preparing for a job interview, valuing customers, understanding the retail selling process and provide information and advice to customers.
You will then be able to select four optional units from a range of 7 units which will enhance your practical and technical skills required for your chosen career in hairdressing and barbering including; how to cut basic haircuts on both men and women, understanding the various colouring and lightening products, discovering how to perm and relax hair, how to style and finish African type hair and lastly how to cut facial hair.
