Exercise and physical activity for children pathway


Who is this qualification for?


The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Instructing Exercise and Fitness is a competence based qualification that underpins the role of a fitness instructor in the context of exercise and physical activity for children.

Why is this qualification most suitable?


This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16+ age group. The qualification is based on fitness National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to join REPs and become a level 2 member.

What does this qualification cover?


The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively and competently as a fitness instructor (water based exercise), which includes: anatomy and physiology for exercise, principles of exercise health and fitness, know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity and health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment. Learners will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to plan and instruct exercise and physical activities for children and how to reflect on and develop own practice.
