The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Make-Up and Manicure is a vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed manicurist and make-up consultant. This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a junior manicurist/make-up consultant.
Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

What does this qualification cover?
The VTCT Level2 Certificate in Make-up and Manicure is a qualification that has been specifically designed for learners to develop their practical skills in; how to provide manicure treatments, apply make-up and instruct on make-up application.
Underpinning this qualification the learner will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment and learn how to promote client care and communications in beauty related sectors. The learner will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification to develop them on their designated career pathway as a junior manicurist/make-up consultant.
What could this qualification lead to?
Career opportunities exist in a variety of contexts as a junior beautician / beauty specialist, including:
- Working in commercial beauty salons
- Working in a retail concession in a department store
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare learners for employment as a junior beautician/beauty specialist, learners may choose to develop their skills further by undertaking Technical Level qualifications in beauty therapy at Level 2 and 3, these include:
